How do I fix duplicate products in Farmable?

Merge copies of the same product that share a registration number, so their stock and history sit on one product

Written by Enja Matthee

TL;DR: Select Fix duplicate in current inventory or in Settings → Products, select the product to keep, check the review and confirm the merge. A merge can't be undone.

What is a duplicate product?

Farmable looks for products on your farm that share a registration number. Those are the duplicates you can merge. Matching is by registration number only, so two products with the same name and no shared registration number aren't flagged.

Merge duplicate products

  1. Start from the one-time prompt, or select Fix duplicate:

    • Owners and Managers see the prompt once per farm, when the app or the Web Portal opens.

    • Fix duplicate is in current inventory and in Settings → Products.

  2. Select the product you want to keep.

  3. Check the review. It shows what will be written off.

    • Stock in units that don't mix, such as kg and litres, is written off rather than converted.

    • A merge can't be undone. Make sure the review is right before you continue.

  4. Confirm the merge.

The product you keep gets the stock and history of the other copies. The other copies are removed. On the kept product's page, the merge transfer shows alongside its purchases, recounts, disposals and use.

FAQs

Can I undo a merge?

No. A merge can't be undone, so check the review before you confirm.

Why was my merge refused?

Farmable refuses a merge when a copy being removed:

  • is on a planned, running or paused job or

  • has stock, and the product you keep was never purchased.

Why isn't a product with the same name flagged as a duplicate?

Farmable matches duplicates by registration number only. A product with the same name but no shared registration number isn't marked as a duplicate yet.
