What is a plant protection product register?

A plant protection product register (also called a PPPL or pesticide register) is the official list of pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and insecticides legally approved for use in a given country. Using a product not on the national register is illegal in most jurisdictions, and the registration number must appear on spray records used for compliance reporting.

Where can I find the official pesticide register for my country?

The directory on this page lists the official register for 34 countries, including the authority name, register name, access type, and a direct link to the official source. For countries where Farmable has a live integration (Australia, Austria, Canada, Germany, Italy, Norway, UK and USA), the approved product list is built into the Farmable app, growers select products from the national list and the registration number is automatically included in every spray record.

Do I need the registration number on my spray records?

Yes. In most compliance frameworks, including GlobalG.A.P., Freshcare, Red Tractor and all EU member state regulatory requirements, spray records must reference the product by its registered name and include the registration number. A brand name alone is not sufficient. Farmable automatically includes the registration number from the national product library in every spray record.

Why are pesticide registers different in each country?

Each country authorises plant protection products independently based on its own risk assessment and agricultural conditions. A product registered in Germany is not automatically approved in Italy or Australia, the same active ingredient may be registered under a different brand name, at a different rate, or for different crops. This is why nationally specific product libraries are the correct approach for compliance record-keeping.

What is the EU requirement for pesticide record-keeping from 2027?

From 1 January 2027, all professional pesticide users in EU member states must keep electronic records of plant protection product applications under Article 67 of Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009. Records must include the product name, registration number, date and time, application rate, treated area, crop, growth stage, weather conditions and operator. Farmable generates records that meet these requirements for all EU markets where it operates.

A Plant Protection Product List (PPPL), sometimes called a pesticide register, approved product list, or national database, is the official record of every PPP authorised for use in a given country.
