Integrated Pest Management

Spot problems early. Act before they spread.

Integrated Pest Management is a holistic approach to pest control that combines monitoring, prevention and targeted intervention to reduce pesticide use. It helps you make the most economical, efficient and sustainable decisions to keep crop damage to a minimum.

The basics

What is Integrated Pest Management?

IPM combines multiple methods to reduce pest pressure and the use of pesticides. In practice it runs as four connected stages, each one feeding the next so decisions get better every season.

Prevention

Choose resistant varieties, plan rotations and manage habitat so pressure stays low before it ever becomes a problem.

Monitoring

Scout fields on a regular schedule. Log what you see with photos and GPS so trends are visible across the season.

Intervention

Act only when thresholds are reached. Pick the most targeted method available, biological, mechanical or chemical.

Evaluation

Review every treatment against the observation that triggered it. Refine the plan for next season based on what worked.

How Farmable helps

Every observation connected to every treatment.

Scouting

Field scouting and observations

Log pest and disease observations with photos directly in the app. Every note is GPS-tagged to the exact field, row or bed, with weather, incidence and severity captured alongside.

One data set

Field map, IPM notes and spray records together

Map your fields once and reuse them for everything. Observations, recommended jobs and completed spray records all sit on the same block, with weather and product data attached.

Audit trail

Audit-ready reports, exportable anywhere

Spray reports, fertiliser reports and product inventory are ready in the app or as PDF, XLS or API export. FreshCare and GlobalG.A.P. compliant out of the box.

Watch

See IPM running on Farmable.

GlobalG.A.P., organic certification, and an increasing number of national regulations require documented IPM programs. Farmable gives you the records to prove compliance at any audit.

Notes and observations

The observation layer your IPM program runs on.

IPM only works when scouting data is captured, structured and easy to find. Farmable Notes turn what your team sees in the field into a searchable, shareable record.

For Extension and Agronomy Teams

IPM at network scale, for the teams supporting growers.

Farmable can be rolled out as an IPM scouting tool across your entire network of growers. Every observation they capture is aggregated in Farmable Enterprise - the platform built for agronomy service providers and IPM extension offices that need a region-wide view of pest pressure.

IPM scouting for your grower network

Equip every grower you advise with Farmable. They get a proper field-notes tool with photo, GPS and pest tagging - you get a network that actually records what it sees.

All monitoring notes aggregated in one place

Every scout note, pest count and photo from across your network flows into Farmable Enterprise. Filter by region, crop or pest to see pressure building before it becomes a call-out.

Built for extension offices and agronomy services

Region-wide dashboards, exportable reports and shared pest libraries. Use it to issue alerts, prioritise farm visits and back up regulatory submissions with real field data.

Frequently asked questions

Does Farmable support GlobalG.A.P. IPM requirements?

Yes. Farmable's observation and treatment records provide the documented evidence required for GlobalG.A.P. IPM compliance. Reports export in one click.

Can I log pest scouting notes without a spray treatment?

Yes. Observations are separate from treatments. You can log a scouting note with photo, GPS location and pest identification without triggering a spray record.

How does the AI crop health feature work?

Take a photo of the affected plant in the Farmable app and share it with the AI agent. It identifies the issue and suggests appropriate responses based on your crop, location and registered products.

Does Farmable connect to the Agronomy Hub?

Yes. Pest pages on the Agronomy Hub link directly to the relevant Farmable product lists for your country, and the app surfaces Agronomy Hub content contextually.
